MBDA has been awarded a Demonstration and Manufacture contract by the UK Ministry of Defence for the Sea Ceptor air defence system for the UK Royal Navy’s new class of frigate, the Type 26 Global Combat Ship.

Airbus Defence and Space and PAL Aerospace have announced a strategic partnership for the provision of In Service Support for C295 aircraft operated by members of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. It builds on the existing partnership for Canada’s Fixed-Wing Search and Rescue (FWSAR) program.

TAURUS Systems GmbH (an MBDA Deutschland GmbH and SAAB Dynamics AB joint venture) has handed over the first lot of TAURUS KEPD 350K stand-off missiles to the Republic of Korea Air Force (RoKAF). TAURUS weapon system will provide RoKAF with the most advanced stand-off and deep strike capability currently available on the world market.

Sajjan today completed a successful visit to United Nations headquarters in New York, NY, where he met with UN, US, and African officials, and reiterated Canada’s commitment to United Nations peace operations as part of Canada’s broader efforts to re-energize Canadian diplomacy and leadership on the world’s stage.

Sajjan this week attended the 12th biennial Conference of Defence Ministers of the Americas in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, a conference that provides a unique forum for defence ministers in the hemisphere to share ideas and experiences regarding regional defence and security issues.

The ministers of Foreign Affairs, International Development and La Francophonie, and National Defence have announced that the Government of Canada has deployed the Canadian Disaster Assessment Team (CDAT) to Haiti and set aside up to $3 million as an initial humanitarian response for those in Haiti and other countries in the region affected by Hurricane Matthew.
