The French Navy’s third FREMM multi-mission frigate, the Languedoc, has been floated out from DCNS’ Lorient shipyard to undergo sea trials off the coast of Brittany. The Languedoc is the third FREMM ordered by OCCAR 1 on behalf of the DGA (French Defence Procurement Agency) and the French Navy.

Seaspan Marine unveiled the newest addition to its marine fleet, a 16,000 tonne barge named the Seaspan 252, during an official commissioning ceremony at Seaspan’s North Vancouver Barge Maintenance Terminal today.

BAE Systems, Inc. has announced an agreement with MBDA to support marketing efforts for the Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWSTM) laser-guided rocket. Under the terms of the agreement, MBDA will lead marketing efforts for the BAE Systems, Inc. APKWS rocket in Europe, BAE Systems said in a news release.

During the DSEI defence show in London, Sept. 15-18, Rheinmetall’s high technology group will for the first time showcase its air defence High Energy Laser (HEL) effectors, capable of engaging low, slow, small (LSS) threats. The German defence contractor will also be showing an HEL effector for maritime applications for the first time.
