Commemorating the Battle of Britain
A ceremony marking the 83rd anniversary of the Battle of Britain will be held at Beechwood National Military Cemetery in Ottawa on Sunday, September 17, 2023 from 10:30 a.m. until noon.
A small number of Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) members, veterans and cadets will gather to mark this occasion by laying a wreath in commemoration. Weather permitting, the ceremony will feature a fly-past of vintage aircraft that represent those flown in the Second World War.
Fly-past: Vintage Wings of Canada aircraft that represent those flown in the Second World War will fly over the ceremony at an altitude no lower than 1000 feet above the highest point of the cemetery before resuming a higher-flying altitude. Fly-pasts coordinated by the RCAF in support of special events are carefully planned and closely controlled to ensure public safety at all times.
