Royal Canadian Air Force crews and personnel from 407 Long Range Patrol Squadron and 19 Wing Comox will participate in the multinational anti-submarine Exercise Sea Dragon at Andersen Air Force Base in Guam from March 15 to March 30. Participating nations will be competing to wrest the coveted ‘Dragon Belt’ from 2-time consecutive winner – the RCAF.

Veterans Ombud, retired Colonel Nishika Jardine, will be in Nova Scotia the week of March 20 to meet with the Veterans community. The visit includes town halls in Liverpool on March 22, and Dartmouth on March 23, as well as meetings with a broad range of stakeholders in the Halifax Regional Municipality.

One hundred years ago today, the Government of Canada authorized the organization of the Royal Canadian Navy Volunteer Reserve. Since then, the Naval Reserve has played a critical role in Canada’s safety and security. Today's modern Naval Reserve includes some 4,100 members across Canada.

Speculation ended today when Defence Minister Anita Anand confirmed that four of the Canadian Army’s 82 “combat ready” main battle tanks will be sent to Ukraine “in the coming weeks” to support an expected spring counter-offensive against a renewed push in Russia’s brutal invasion. Training by Canadian Army personnel will take place in an unspecified “third country.”

Defence Minister Anita Anand has just announced that, within the next few weeks, Canada will begin to supply Ukraine with four Leopard 2 battle tanks, training and sustainment.

HMCS Vancouver and Winnipeg have returned to their home port of CFB Esquimalt, after successfully completing their deployments. On hand for the return from the three-month multinational tour that included Operation Neon to enforce UN sanctions against North Korea, Minister Anand highlighted the government’s commitment to spending $493 million to strengthen Canada’s growing role in the Indo-Pacific region.

As announced by Defence Minister Anita Anand, Canada is proposing that Halifax, Nova Scotia, host the North American Regional Office of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization’s (NATO) Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic – a new NATO body that will created to facilitate cooperation between military operators and the best and brightest scientific researchers and technology companies to solve critical Allied defence and security problems.

Two senior officers have been charged for having failed to effectively enforce sexual misconduct directives after an inappropriate call sign was proposed, discussed, and assigned during the event. A junior officer was charged with Undermining Discipline, Efficiency, or Moral for having participated in the assignment.

Defence Minister Anita Anand has announced that Quebec-based Logistik Unicorp won a contract to provide operational clothing and footwear to the Canadian Armed Forces. Valued at up to $3.7 billion over 20 years, this contract will support more 3000 jobs and will deliver approximately 1,222 different items of clothing and footwear worn by CAF members during deployments.

The Royal Canadian Navy accepted delivery of the third Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ship (AOPS). Built at the Irving Shipyard in Halifax, Her Majesty’s Canadian Ship (HMCS) Max Bernays is the third of six new AOPS to eventually be delivered to the RCN. The ship's home port will be at CFB Esquimalt.

This morning, Lieutenant-General Eric Kenny assumed command of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) from Lieutenant-General Al Meinzinger. The ceremony was presided over by General Wayne Eyre, Chief of the Defence Staff, at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum in Ottawa, Ontario.

Today, Defence Minister Anita Anand participated virtually in the Copenhagen Conference for Northern European Defence Allies of Ukraine. The conference aims to determine how Northern European Allies and other partners can strengthen collaboration and enhance support for Ukraine in the face of Russia’s unprovoked, unjustifiable, and illegal attack.
