Six Vancouver police officers injured

One man is dead and six officers were sent to hospital following an altercation in Vancouver on Thursday afternoon. Vancouver police say officers responded to a call of a distraught man causing a disturbance in the city’s southeast end at around 2:30 p.m. yesterday. [node:read-more:link]

Two RCMP officers shot in Alberta casino

Two RCMP officers were shot after a routine investigation into a stolen vehicle that led to the Apex Casino St. Albert, Alberta. One officer was wounded but now out of hospital, the other has died after being shot in the head at close range. The suspect, Shawn Maxwell Rehn, was later found dead inside a private residence. An autopsy will be preformed to determine the cause of death. [node:read-more:link]

Police accuse "New IRA" of terrorist killing

Police in Northern Ireland blamed militants opposed to British rule there for the killing of a young journalist who was covering a night of violent unrest in Londonderry. Police say the shooters are members from the New Irish Republican Army, a militant republican group formed several years ago from the merger of several splinter groups. [node:read-more:link]
