SNC-Lavalin case should kick-start changes
In large part, the processes and rules related to the SNC-Lavalin case are unclear, poorly worded, or even contradictory in nature. Whether it be Deferred Prosecution Agreements, the definition of undue pressure, or the relationships between senior governmental offices – there is plenty of room for improvement and transparency.
There are several actions that the government could consider in order to prevent a repeat incident, and these are itemized in the report (see link below). These measures may not fix the entire complex web of problems that came to light after the SNC-Lavalin case broke into public awareness, but improvements are nonetheless possible and important.
