WRITER PROFILE

Dr. Gordon McBean is a Professor and Director of Policy Studies for the Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction at the University of Western Ontario. He Chaired the International Science Committee for Integrated Research on Disaster Risk. A former Assistant Deputy Minister in Environment Canada, he is a Member of the Order of Canada, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. Dr McBean shared in the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize to the IPCC.
